Market Rasen is already planning ahead for Christmas.
The Festive Season has been discussed at council meetings and more talks are due tonight.
Town Mayor John Matthews says the Mayor’s Charity Event will be on Friday December 5. This will coincide with switching on the town lights, though who will do this has yet to be decided.
“The MR BIG Christmas Market is on Saturday December 6, so one rolls into the other,” said Mayor Matthews.
More detailed plans of what the Town Council may do will be discussed at a council meeting tonight. In addition, a meeting of all the participating groups is set for Tuesday July 22. These groups are likely to include the Church, Market Rasen Round Table, the Lions, MR BIG and the Christmas Tree Committee.
“I am keen that the Charity evening is well organised, interesting and appealing so that we raise a respectable sum,” said Mayor Matthews.
The Mayor’s chosen charities are the Lincolnshire Air Ambulance and the Alzheimer’s Society.
The MR BIG Christmas Market attracts more than 70 stalls. In January the council said the 2013 festivities were very popular.
