We asked you to bring a ray of hope to the lives of children in some of the poorest areas of Europe this Christmas by filling a shoebox with gifts.
Your response has been amazing, and thanks to the efforts of our readers the Market Rasen Mail has collected 252 shoeboxes. for the Rotary International Shoebox Scheme.
These will now be added to the hundreds of shoeboxes collected by our sister newspaper titles, the Louth Leader, Skegness Standard and Horncastle News.
Our local Rotary clubs will then take on the task of shipping the shoeboxes to Eastern Europe, where they will be delivered to underprivileged children in time for Christmas.
Remember, fro some of these children, this will be the only Christmas present they receive.
Paul Fisher, Editor of the Market Rasen Mail, said: “It is absolutely fantastic to see that there are so many generous, kind hearted, giving people in our county.
“Christmas is a time when everyone is always a bit short on money and yet the people of Market Rasen, Caistor, Brigg and the surrounding areas have once again dug deep and given wholeheartedly to children who have practically nothing.
“On behalf of myself, the Market Rasen Mail team and Rotary International I’d just like to say a massive thank you to every single person who donated, we really could not do this without your generosity year in, year out.”
