Stepping out to make walkers welcome

STEP out on Saturday, May 7 for the official launch of Walkers are Welcome in Market Rasen.

Four free walks have been arranged to start from the Market Place at 11am and vary in length to suit all abilities.

Put on your walking boots for the nine and a half-mile route with a view walk or take part in the CONNECT 3 bus walk to Faldingworth at seven and a half miles.

For the less adventurous, there is the four-mile cricket fields walk or the heritage walk around the town.

Several local businesses are also joining in the spirit of the day by offering a discount in their shops.

Market Rasen deputy mayor Mike Eckersley said: “As well as the series of walks, many local outdoor and sports organisations have been invited to come along on the day to display information about themselves.

“It is also a good lead up to the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival which starts on May 21.”

Walkers Are Welcome is a national scheme and Market Rasen is the first community in Lincolnshire to be accredited.
