MARKET RASEN Station has shown it is the tops when it comes to community involvement.

The Station Adoption Group has been announced as the inaugural winners of the Best Community Partnership category at this year’s Best Station Awards, run by East Midlands Trains.

“We are honoured to be the first recipients of this award,” said adoption group chairman John Skelton.

“My thanks have to go to all businesses, groups, schools and individuals who have sponsored the planters and flowers, as well as providing the paintings and poetry, and to the many volunteers who turn out to do the odd jobs.”

“Without all this input, we wouldn’t have won the award.

“Now we have a station of such high standing, we need to maintain it and try to improve and may get the best station award next year.”

With autumn almost upon us, the group is looking for more volunteers to help sweep up the leaves, litter pick and dead-head the flowers.
