Sporting successes celebrated

Caistor Grammar School held its annual sports assembly to recognise the determination and success of the student sports stars.

“Once again our students have excelled in a multitude of sporting activities and we are very proud of their achievements,” said Head of PE Andy Shutes.

Rob Watson, Lead Foundation Phase Coach for Scunthorpe United Football Club, presented the trophies to the Players’ Player in football and netball, progress and achievement in athletics and junior and intermediate sports person of the year.

Recognised for football were - year 7 ­Joey Dawson, year 8 Josh Hyldon, year 9 Alex Knox and year 10 Lucas Button; netball winners were: year 7 Lily Welton, year 8 Molly Alcock, year 9 Olivia Smith and year 10 Lauren Shale and Pippa Bradley.

William Tate was named athlete of the year for year 7/8 boys and the intermediate athlete of the year, years 9/10 was Lucas Button.

Girls year 7/8 the athlete of the year honour went to Emily Barratt and Intermediate, year 9/10, to Imogen Smith and Lucy Wilson.

Boys Overall Winners were: Harry Russell, year 7; William Tate, year 8; Angus Haswell, year 9 and Sam Redgate­Large, year 10.

Girls Overall Winners were: Frankie Shepherd, year 7; Emily Barratt, year 8; Lucy Wilson, year 9 and Grace McGrory, year 10.
