A NEW countryside festival will be launched at Market Rasen Racecourse this summer to replace the loss-making Gardeners’ Fair.
Market Rasen Country Festival will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2011, and will feature a wide range of entertainment, including food stalls, charity and club demonstrations, music and street entertainment.
Organised by Market Rasen Development Trust, (MRDT) it is hoped to attract 5,000 visitors.
Sylvia Jones, one of MRDT’s directors, said: “Rather than seeing it as a loss to the town it is going to be a benefit to the whole community.
“If you speak to people from outside Lincs about Market Rasen they say ‘oh yes, it has a racecourse.’
“It will bring people in and put Market Rasen on the map.
“We want to bring walkers and bikers in from the Wolds and let people enjoy Market Rasen and its racecourse and show them how great it is.”
