Children can play in safety again in Glentham after a new fence was put up by the parish council.
The play area borders a road and a little beck and councillors were growing increasingly concerned with the damaged state of the previous wooden fence.
Having found suitable fencing, they realised it would cost about the same as the precept for a whole year.
And while funding could have been accumulated over a number years, time was not on their side, so an application was made to The Big Lottery Fund.
And they were delighted to receive a grant of £4,631 to complete the project.
