STAFF at Market Rasen Library were delighted when a royal crested envelope dropped on to the mat.

The letter was to library staff members Kathy Perry and Mel Fenwick who had organised a card competition earlier this year.

Thanks were given to them for forwarding the winning entries – from Stan Roberts (five), Harriet Elkington (nine) and Beth Roberts (seven) – to the Queen to help celebrate her Diamond Jubilee.

Beth, who also enclosed her town jubilee winning poem with her card, spoke for everyone when she said: “It is all quite exciting.”

“I am delighted the Queen took time to recognise their efforts,” said Kathy Perry.

“It helps to put Market Rasen Library on the map and if the Queen ever decides to visit the town she would be made very welcome here – the kettle is always on.”
