Rasen MP '˜safe' following Westminster attack

Market Rasen MP Sir Edward Leigh has tweeted that he and his team are ‘safe’ following a shooting outside the Houses of Parliament which has left the Palace of Westminster ‘under lockdown’.

According to reports at the time of writing, one woman has died, a police officer stabbed and several people ‘mown down’ by an attacker as he drove over Westminster Bridge this afternoon.

Several people are described as having ‘catastrophic’ injuries.

Following the attack, Sir Edward Leigh tweeted: “I am safe, and so are my staff.

“The police seem to have things under control.

“As always we are very grateful to @metpoliceuk.”

Metropolitan Police have announced that they are treating the incident as a ‘terrorist incident until we know otherwise’.
