Market Rasen’s Parish Church is looking to a brighter future with the launch of a fundraising campaign to install a new lighting system.

The church is currently served by a series of pendulum lights, but they are no longer fit for purpose.

“With the change to energy-saving bulbs, the current system is too dim,” said the Rev Steve Johnson.

“The bulbs keep blowing and at £45 a time it is not cost effective.

“We have tried a number of different bulbs, but nothing works, so there is no option but to change the system.”

The cost of the new lights is £5,000 and would see wall-mounted lights on either side of the nave.

It is hope to have the work completed in time for
 Christmas.

“People have been very supportive of the scheme, but now we need to raise the
money to do it,” added the Rev Johnson.

“We have already had some cash donations from people, and anonymous donations, and local businesses have been very good too.

“This is very much the first phase of making the church more accessible - making it far brighter and approachable for the whole community.”
