Rasen butcher’s Ironman charity challenge

AN ATHLETIC butcher is preparing for two gruelling fitness challenges to raise money for charity.

Market Rasen butchery manager Stuart Parker, 52, was aiming to complete the Enduroman Double Ironman Challenge but the endurance event was cancelled.

Instead, Stuart is taking on two separate Ironmans on consecutive weekends.

Each Ironman features a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run. Stuart, who works at Market Rasen’s Lincolshire Co-operative store, will be raising money for the firm’s charity of the year Help for Heroes

He said: “I was disappointed when the Double Ironman was cancelled but all the training won’t have been in vain.

“Doing two Ironmans back-to-back is still a massive challenge, especially as recovery between the events will be minimal.”

So far, Stuart has raised £5,000.

Stuart’s first event takes place in Nottingham on July 24 and the second in Bolton on July 31.
