FUN-LOVING family and friends of a much-loved and missed Lissington woman have raised £4,000 for charity in her memory.

Rose Bierlein lost her fight against cancer earlier this year and the money will be split between Cancer Research and the Waddington Ward at Lincoln Hospital, who cared for her.

The Race for Rose event saw forty people take part in a fun run from Grundy Lane to Wickenby Church and back, with everyone, of course, sponsored.

Back at Grundy Lane, there were craft stalls, tombola, cakes and an auction to pull in even more money for the two worthy causes.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support,” said Rose’s daughter Tracey, who helped organise the event along with her sisters, Karla and Helen, brother, Jason, and other members of the family.

“We held a similar event last year and raised £1,800 for Cancer Research.

“We were already arranging this event with Mum and we wanted it to be a fun day. I know she was watching us on the day.”
