Pub closure leaves bride at the alter

Have your say

A VILLAGE pub has suddenly closed its doors, leaving wedding parties in a state of flux.

Market Rasen pet shop owner Bridget Pitt was due to get married at The Olde Barn in Tealby in April and admitted it was “a bit of a shocker” to hear they had closed.

“We had arranged to have the ceremony and reception there,” she told the Rasen Mail, “and we were so surprised when we heard through a friend that it had closed.

“We had not been notified that anything was wrong, but now we have had to completely rearrange everything.”

Having been a year in the planning, Bridget’s wedding had to be replanned in just 36 hours.

“Luckily, we were able to book in at the registry office for the same day and the Kings Head in Tealby have been marvellous in helping us plan the reception at such short notice.”

A spokesman for Enterprise Inns, who own the property, said: “We can confirm the Olde Barn closed recently, with a view to selling it. The property is on the market with Banks, Long and Co of Lincoln.”

Anyone who has a query about a booking made with the Olde Barn can contact Enterprise Inns’ head office on 0121 733 7700.
