It is time to celebrate the unsung heroes who are showing true community spirit.

Following on from last year’s inaugural community awards, West Lindsey District Council is again asking for you to tell them who is working hard at the heart of your community.

Categories are volunteer of the year, parish/town council of the year and, new this year, a special recognition award.

There will also be six area champion awards, one of whom will be voted West Lindsey citizen of the year.

Last year, that honour went to Market Rasen’s Shirley Sanderson for her years of dedicated work for many local communities.

West Lindsey council chairman Coun Irmgard Parrott is giving her full support to the awards.

She said: “The work these champions carry out is not always shouted about, so through a ceremony like this we can show how much we appreciate what they do.”

Nomination forms are available from the council website www.west-lindsey.gov.uk/communityawards.

The closing date is October 31 and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in the Guidhall at Gainsborough on Thursday, December 5.
