‘No’ to Middle Rasen homes

Planners have refused planning permission for three 3-bed homes in Middle Rasen.

Mr M Eames sought to build the houses in his back garden at 43 Church Street.

A council report said that the project failed to meet policies on flooding issues.

The Environment Agency also opposed the project, saying it was on a flood plain.

Middle Rasen Parish Council too cited flood risks from the project, as well as the loss of trees.

Local residents also claimed impact on residential amenity, flood risk and drainage issues, the impact on wildlife and trees, it would also over develop the village and impact on its rural character.

The council report also noted the site fell within the boundaries of the medieval settlement area of Middle Rasen Tupholme. Thus, there was “the potential the development will disturb archaeological deposits” so a dig would be needed before any work.

But it did say the site was located within an “established sustainable location.”
