A RASEN recycling centre is to open for an extra day a week – but opening hours will be reduced.
The Rasen’s Household Waste Recycling Centre at Gallamore Lane Industrial Estate will now open on Mondays, as well as Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
But the opening hours will now be 9am to 4pm all year round – the centre’s hours in the summer (April to September) are currently 8am to 6pm on Fridays and 8am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday and 8am to 4pm in the winter.
The decision to make the changes was made by Lincolnshire County Council’s executive committee after a re-tendering process for all 11 of the area’s recycling centres.
The council’s executive member for waste services and green issues Coun Lewis Strange said: “We do still need to save £1.215m from the waste budget for this year, which is why the opening hours and days have been changed to help achieve this.
“I’m sure people will carry on doing all they can to help boost our tremendous recycling levels even higher.”
In Lincolnshire, almost 53 per cent of household waste is now recycled, compared to a national average of 42 per cent.
The changes will come into force on Sunday, April 1.
