‘Adult’ exercise equipment for De Aston Park, Market Rasen, looks set to be bought by the town council.
Members are investigating what kind of equipment would be suitable and have already been in touch with potential suppliers.
Former town mayor Steve Bunney says around eight ‘stations’ of equipment could be bought to cover a variety of gym exercises, suggesting they might cost £8,000-£9,000. No decisions have been made yet.
Market Rasen Town Council bought the field in Willingham Road from Lincolnshire County Council last November.
Current Mayor John Matthews says land cannot be used for building or for children’s swings and rounndabouts, but rather ‘adult leisure.’
The field has already been improved with 300 bushes and trees, with the saplings being planted to create an ‘aboretum.’
An acre of the field has also been set aside to ‘give back’ to the cemetery, as it is nearly 100 per cent full.
“We have had discussions with the public and the general consensus is there’s an appetite for outdoor leisure equipment. We are looking at a package of equipment but these are discussions rather than a proposal,” he said.
