A RASENITE has been given a new award for her tireless work for the community.
Volunteer Margaret Lakin-Whitworth can often be seen out in the town, picking up rubbish from Mill Road Playing Field, cleaning the war memorial in Chapel Street or raising money for the ambucopter.
She also served on Market Rasen Town Council for more than seven years helping to shape its development.
At the monthly town council meeting last Wednesday, April 6, Mrs Lakin-Whitworth was presented with a community service award and a bouquet of flowers by Mayor Brian Richardson.
Acting town clerk Carol Anne-Yard said: “This is for your outstanding service and you’ve been well loved and well respected during your time on the council.”
Coun Richardson said: “This is presented to Margaret for her work on Market Rasen Town Council and as Parish Champion and I think it is well deserved.”
Mrs Lakin-Whitrworth said: “I do not know what to say other than thank you very much.”
