Gardeners at the allotment site on Brigg’s Redbourne Lane were concerned at vandalism after a break-in last month.

Allotment co-ordinator Peter Brock told the Brigg Town Council Property and Services Committee four of the sheds on the allotments had been broken into, with tools and chickens stolen. The police had been informed.

Site inspections took place in July at the height of the mid-summer gardening season and the clerk reported all but one plot at the Redcombe Lane site were in good order and under full cultivation.

The situation was less satisfactory at the council’s second site on Grammar School Road, with five plots not deemed to be in good order and in full cultivation.

There is currently half a plot available for lease.

Any enquiries should be made at the council’s office in the Angel Suite on Monday and Thursday morning.
