Busier times at council’s Angel Suite after price cut attracts new business

BRIGG Town Council’s previously loss-making Angel Suite has had a new lease of life as a private entertaining venue, according to manager Karen Deeley.

“We have become popular for family celebrations such as Christening parties and wedding receptions. The price for these has dropped and that has helped.”

The Angel Suite comprises the town council’s office and the ballroom of the former Angel Hotel with an adjacent bar area. It was developed as a meeting and function room following the closure of the old Corn Exchange.

The room has run at a loss in several recent years, but the town council’s marketing strategy and the appointment of Karen as manager has led to a higher profile.

The Angel Hotel was a town centre coaching inn in the 18th Century. The modern-day suite was officially opened in 1995 following the final phase of the renovation of the hotel by North Lincolnshire Council.
