The funeral service for Percy Tindall, aged 81 years, was held at St Thomas’ Church, Market Rasen.

The Rev Michael Cartwright conducted the service, during which Percy’s two sons gave moving tributes to their father.

Percy was born at Rothwell, one of six children.

Throughout the war the family lived close to Binbrook airfield, and he often spoke about those times.

At 18 he was called for his National Service in the army, after which he married Alma at North Willingham Church.

The couple had two sons and two daughters, expanding the family over the years with 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Last year Percy and Alma celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

When they were first married, Percy did farm work and then went on to Nettleton Mines for a time.

After moving to Market Rasen, he worked at Osgodby Geriatric Hospital for more than eight years until it closed.

The next 25 years were spent working at Wragby and Market Rasen plastic factories until his retirement.

Always a keen gardener, Percy spent much time and took great pride in his garden.

He is greatly missed by all his family.
