Police update after Holton le Clay collision

Contrary to earlier reports, the collision involved a white Toyota Yaris and a police vehicle - rather than a pedestrian.

At around 1.20pm this afternoon, a Humberside Police spokesman told the Leader: “Emergency services are currently in attendance following a collision involving a police vehicle and a on the A16 near Holton le Clay. The collision was reported just before midday today.

“A road closure is in place to enable enquiries to be undertaken and traffic is being diverted down Cheapside.

“There are no reports of any serious injuries at present.

“An investigation will take place to establish the circumstances of the incident. Log 198 of today refers.

“The road closure has now been lifted.”

An East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) spokesman added: “We sent two ambulances and four patients were taken to Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.

Eyewitness reports earlier today had suggested that a car and a pedestrian had been involved in the collision.

However, Humberside Police have since confirmed that they have no record of a pedestrian being involved.
