Stretches of the A18, Barton Street, will be closed to traffic for one week from June 1.

Surveys and site investigations need to be carried out ahead of planned resurfacing works that are due to take place later in the summer by North East Lincolnshire Council and its partner Cofely.

Although road signs warn of road closures for three weeks, this is merely a precaution in case there are delays due to bad weather. The roadworks are expected to take just one week.

The stretches to be inspected will run from the North Thoresby turn to the junction of the B1203 Ashby Hill, and from the Barnoldby Le Beck turn to the junction with the A46 Laceby bypass.

The work will be divided into four phases and during each phase the road will be closed to all vehicles except for those requiring access to local businesses and homes.

Motorists who need to drive through the roadworks to gain access to businesses or their properties are asked to do so slowly and carefully when in the closure area as surveyors will be working in the road.

Advance warning signs have been erected on the approaches and a diversion route via the A16 and A46 will be in place for the duration of the works.

Specific closure notification signs will be then erected on the routes affected giving specific dates when that stretch of road will be closed. Work is planned to start on the stretch between the North Thoresby Turn and the B1203 Ashby Hill.

Barton Street has a 50mph speed limit and the road closures are needed to keep the workforce and road users safe.

North East Lincolnshire Council and its partner Cofely apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by the works.
