Fans of motorcycle racing have the opportunity to get their hands on a unique piece of memorabilia in an online auction.
Locally based racer Guy Martin has donated his 2013 season helmet, which he has also signed, to The Fire Fighters Charity. Guy wore this helmet at the NW200, The 2013 Isle of Man TT, all the meetings at Scarborough, Le Mans 24hr and many more meetings throughout the year, including the Ulster Grand Prix.
The helmet is described as ‘race worn’ as it sustained some damage as a result of Guy coming off in France while practicing a couple of weeks ago.
“The helmet did its job as Guy is ok, but it took the newness off it,” said a spokesman for the charity.
“The helmet can not be worn as head protection, and should only be for display purposes only.”
One hundred percent of the final sale price will go to The Fire Fighters Charity, which enhances quality of life for serving and retired fire service personnel and their families.
The auction closes on Sunday, May 4 and Guy himself will present the helmet to the winning buyer.
