Obituary: Ian Miles Smith

The funeral service for Ian Miles Smith, aged 80 years of Market Rasen was held at the Parish Church.

The Rev Michael Cartwright officiated at the service and arrangements were by J Marshall.

Ian was born in Bourne and after leaving Bourne Grammar School took up an engineering apprenticeship with Peter Brotherhood.

For his National Service, from 1955 to 1057, Ian was in the Merchant Navy - serving as a Second Officer with Blue Star Line.

Ian also worked as an agricultural salesman (JCB) with T C Harrison.

Ian had been a member of Market Rasen and District Round Table and served as its chairman in 1971/72.
