A service to celebrate the life of Alf Spark took place at St Martin’s Church, North Owersby.

The Rev Geoffrey Spencer officiated at the service and arrangements were by J Marshall of Market Rasen.

His cortège, led by a piper and drummer, was a fitting tribute to Alf who was born in Scotland in 1929 in the small hamlet Kineff, later moving to Laurencekirk.

He was conscripted at 18 and served in Gibraltar for two years with The Royal Artillery.

On leaving the army he was employed as a lorry driver by W Robertson of Balmakewan Farms in Laurencekirk, and when offered a position at another of the Balmakewan farms in 1952 he left Scotland and moved to Lincolnshire.

Here in South Gulham he met
Barbara and they spent 55 happily
married years together, until her death in 2009.

Alf moved to Market Rasen in 2010.
