Ancholme Rowing Club have been given £250 for a pair of new boat shoes from retailers Nisa Today, which have been fitted into the ‘Frank Henthorn 8,’ named after a legendary history teacher at Brigg Grammar School and rower with the club in the 1950s and 60s.

Tara Lings of Nisa Retail made the presentation to the club and the cheque was received by club members Penny Barker and Zoe Spalding.

“The shoes are like a plate and the rower can push off in them,” said Zoe.

“To row well it is important the shoes stay in position through the pushing motion; we are very grateful for the money and pleased to be part of the scheme helping grass roots sport.”
