MARKET Rasen’s Methodist Minister is moving on.
After five years in the town, the Rev Marty Presdee is moving on to pastures new - but this is one of the shortest moves she has made during her ministry, just 19 miles away.
Having previously worked in Wales and North Yorkshire, in September, Marty will take up her post in the Mid Lincolnshire Circuit and will be based in Horncastle,
“The Mid Lincolnshire Circuit is in such a beautiful area,” said Marty.
“It will be quite a challenge, but very interesting.”
At a service in Market Rasen on Sunday, Methodists from across the Market Rasen and Caistor Circuit joined together to say farewell, not only to Marty but also to her husband John, who has also supported the circuit with his musical talents.
And music has been one of the biggest gifts from the Presdee pairing - introducing the Roger Jones musicals, which have brought people together across the circuit. Performances of the musicals have also been enjoyed in neighbouring circuits.
Music teacher John has also played the organ at chapels throughout the circuit, as well as accompanying the circuit choir.
At the heart of Marty’s work has been pastoral care, which is a side of her ministry she has greatly enjoyed.
“This is a very warm circuit, which has a good feel and good relationships, as well as being very supportive of each other,” she said.
“We have had a very full and rewarding time here and thank everyone for all they are and all we have shared together.”
And at the farewell service, Circuit Steward Janet Faulkner praised Marty for her pastoral work.
“Both Marty and John have given so much to this circuit.
“They have introduced the musicals, which we hope to continue, and we say thank you for Marty’s pastoral skills, which have been very much appreciated.
“We wish them well on their move to Horncastle in this new stage of Marty’s ministry.”
In September, probationary minister the Rev Anne Coates will be welcomed to the circuit and the Rev Andrew Lomax will take over the role of Superintendent Minister.
