As part of a national campaign of respect and also to symbolise peace, Coun John Kitwood, Mayor of Brigg, laid flowers at the town’s War Memorial in memory of soldier Lee Rigby, where Mayor’s Chaplain Coun the Rev Alec Depledge offered a short reading and prayer.

Coun Kitwood is pictured with Freeman of Brigg Tom Glossop (left) and the Rev Alec Depledge; also in the party were MP Andrew Percy, North Lincolnshire Councillors Nigel Sherwood, Carl Sherwood and Rob Waltham, and Royal British Legion Poppy Co-ordinator for the town Maureen Glossop.

Prior to the wreath laying, members of the community had been leaving their own private floral tributes on the War Memorial and this has continued throughout the past week.
