The Woodland Workout volunteer group that works in the Forestry Commission’s Osgodby Wood will be marking its five year anniversary, with two of the original volunteers leading the celebrations.

Chris Darcel and Colin Byatt were both at the first session back in 2009 - and have been taking part ever since.

On Tuesday, March 4, they will be leading the group in a walk to revisit some of the projects they have been involved in over the past year. They will also have a celebratory cake.

The group carries out tasks including restoring heathland, tree planting, burning brash and coppicing.

Woodland ranger Jenny Boatwright said: “To have two of the original group members reach the five year anniversary is testament to their loyalty and commitment, for which we are hugely grateful”.
