West Lindsey boss reports three councillors to Standards Board
Thursday 9am THE CHIEF executive of West Lindsey District Council, Duncan Sharkey, has reported three councillors to the council's Standards Board.
Mr Sharkey said that his complaints followed the conduct of some councillors following the suspension of a planning officer.
He said there were also complaints about four councillors from the opposition Liberal Democrat group, and all have yet to be dealt with.
"As you might expect, the incident has hit the local headlines and it will be some time before we are able to repair the damage that has been done to the council's reputation," he said.
"We are working hard at this and are doing everything we can to assure local residents that the investigation has nothing to do with corruption or individual planning applications."
Mr Sharkey said it was a 'real shame' the incident had deflected attention from the many positives that had happened over the past 12 months.
A complaint from a member of the public to the Standards Board, has been dismissed following an initial investigation.
