Several people suffered injuries following a collision on the A46 at Caistor this morning, Tuesday June 24.

A black 4x4 and horsebox collided at the crossroads close to Caistor Police Station at around 11am.

Two Ambulances attended the scene, along with two police cars and the fire brigade.

The collision blocked the highway creating a traffic jam, though the road is now partially open.

Eyewitness Chris Carver told the Rasen Mail that the 4x4 was badly damaged and it was fortunate there were no horses in the box.

A police spokeswoman confirmed the person in the 4x4 was “quite seriously injured” and was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary.

The passengers of the other vehicle were taken to Grimsby Hospital.

Accidents “quite often” happen at the cross roads, Chris added.
