INSPIRATIONAL Binbrook Paralympian Jamie Carter has given another strong performance in the final of the T34 200m.

Against a field of more experienced athletes he held his own in Tuesday night’s final, eventually finishing the race in eighth, but within a second of fourth.

Jamie will now be looking forward to the 100m race on Saturday.

LOCAL Paralympian Jamie Carter is on a fast learning curve today.

After having the pressure of waiting to see if he qualified as one of the two fastest losers for the T34 200m final, he faced the camera crews for an interview.

Speaking to Channel 4’s Sonja McLaughlin, Jamie told of the strides he had made over the last year with coach Jenny Archer and in particular after hitting the international racing scene just three months ago.

“Jenny has had a massive influence on me and it has been a steep learning curve.

“I have been up all night thinking about the time I had to do,” he said.

“I knew I had to go under 31 and I have done that today.”

But September 4 also had an extra special meaning for Jamie.

“It is the anniversary of the day I lost my grandad - so this one is for you grandad.”

Jamie will be racing in the final of the T34 200m tonight (Tuesday), which is scheduled to take place at 7.53pm.
