Police say the incident happened in Queen Street at about 2.30am and that they believe three men were involved in the incident.

Officers say the men forced access via the front of the shop, before making off with cigarettes and alcohol.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “We are appealing for witnesses to come forward, especially anyone who might have seen a silver ford focus heading towards Gainsborough at 2.40am.

“Two of those believed to be involved were dressed in black and a third man was wearing a grey fronted Adidas type jacket – which was a darker colour on the reverse.

“This person was also wearing a grey flat cap and had a full beard.”

Anyone with information should call the non-emergency number, 101.

The incident has been recorded as number 46 of July 4.
