Tennis ladies raise hundreds at charity match
LADIES at Tealby Tennis Club have raised more than £500 for a paratriathlete.
The club has held its second annual ladies’ tennis event, which each year raises money for a good cause.
30 women - from Tealby, Eastgate, Louth, Grimsby and Horncastle tennis clubs - took part this year’s event and raised £526 for Louth paratriathlete Liz McTernan, who is due to compete in the World Championships in New Zealand.
Despite the weather being slightly inclement everyone entered into the spirit of the day competing for prizes.
The winners were Nicky Madden from Tealby, Jan Senescal from Eastgate and Nicki Wood from Tealby.
Tealby Tennis Club member Joy Purkiss said: “This event could not have taken place without tremendous support from a number of club members and several local villagers - to whom the Club is most grateful.”
Joy said plans are already under way for next year’s competition.
