Still time to sign up for Rasen 10k race
DUST off those running shoes, pull on your shorts and prepare yourself for the second annual Market Rasen 10k multi–terrain race.
Following the success of the event last year, the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership will once again be holding the race, which starts and finishes at the racecourse.
More than 200 walkers, runners and joggers have already entered the fun family event, but there is still time and space for you to sign up and take part.
Marc Rhodes, events officer at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, said: “You don’t have to run the 10k – you can walk or jog, and there’s no time limit.
“You can run for fun or raise money for charity. We just want as many people from across Lincolnshire to get involved and have fun.”
The 10k is the third and final race of three races in the West Lindsey Run Series 2012.
Saxilby and Gainsborough have already hosted smaller 5k events in September and October.
The race takes place on Sunday November 25 and starts at 10am at Market Rasen Racecourse.
Runners start from the racecourse, run up Legsby Road, where they will complete an off-road circuit of Dog Kennel Wood, before racing back to the town’s racecourse for the big finish.
The price to enter the race is £10 for UKA affiliated runners and £12 for non-affiliated runners.
And this year Binbrook and GB wheelchair sprint athlete and 2012 Paralympian Jamie Carter will be attending the event to officially start the runners on their 10k race through Market Rasen.
He will be joined by Coun Jessie Milne, chairman of West Lindsey District Council.
Last year’s race was won by Pumlani Bangani, of Salford Harriers, in a time of 33 minutes and 48 seconds.
Organisers are hope more than 350 people take part.

Please note that road closures on Legsby Road from The Ridings to the Dog Kennel Wood junction will be in effect from 9am on Sunday November 25 until approximately 12.30pm.
The following diversion will be in place, Legsby Road to A631 (Market Rasen), to North Willingham, Sixhills Lane and Little London Lane back to Legsby Road.
