Station Adoption Group take national plaudits

Market Rasen Station Adoption Group Award

Market Rasen Station Adoption Group Award

Market Rasen Station Adoption group just can’t stop winning praise and awards it seems.

At the recent National Rail Awards 2012 the group were highly commended in the Small Station of the Year Category.

Martin Barnard, of the Market Rasen Station Adoption Group, said: “We are particularly proud of the 2012 National Rail Award, gaining a ‘Highly Commended’ under the ‘Small Station of the Year’ category as this was against the best in the country.”

The group, made up
entirely of volunteers from the town and surrounding area, then took the runner–up spot in East Midlands Train Best Stations Competition 2012 in the Best Small Station Class.

Mr Barnard added: “Also gaining ‘Runner Up’ from East Midland Trains under their ‘Best Small Station’
category means that we have again been recognised by them as keeping one of the best kept stations on their network.”

Next Sunday, November 14, residents are invited to join the group at the station after the Market Rasen Remembrance Day Service.

Members of the group will be placing a wreath on the station’s memorial to the RAF crew of Valiant WZ363 that crashed with the loss of all crew, close to the Market Rasen railway in 1964.
