Tanya Taylor from Macmillan Cancer Support said: “This donation will help to fund our vital work to reach and improve the lives of people living with cancer within our local community by providing medical, emotional and financial support when they need it most.”

Chestnut Homes has been a supporter of the St Barnabas Hospice for several years, raising more than £12,000 to date.

The hospice’s head of fundraising, Veronica Brien, said: “We cannot thank them enough for their ongoing support.”

Mr Newton said: “Our staff are a brilliant team and they were all very keen to donate and offer their support to these two very worthy causes.”
