An investment of £200,000 is being made into the improvement of the east path on the banks of the Ancholme.

Funding for the project, which will install a cycle path from Brigg’s County Bridge to Castlethorpe Bridge as well as improve the existing footpath, has been confirmed.

Sustainable hard core material will be used.

Cutting of the grass on the bank side should also be improved this summer, after problems last year with the North Lincolnshire contractors.

Much of the money for riverside improvements is being contributed by North Lincolnshire Council.

One riverside development on hold though is the Oil Mill Bridge/Ancholme Leisure Centre Canoe project.

The national canoe body declined to prioritise the scheme recognising the Canoe Club based there had already received substantial help with their clubhouse project.

However, the project to develop bankside and on river leisure projects is still under consideration if new funding becomes available or other projects do not go ahead.
