“De Aston’s GCSE results have improved for the seventh successive year and the school is delighted by the achievement of all our students,” said headteacher Ellenor Beighton.

“Our Year 11 students have achieved a significantly positive value-added score based on the national calculations that Ofsted will look at.

“Our outstanding results should put De Aston School in the top 10 per cent nationally according to Raiseonline, the government’s analysis of how well schools do.”

Highest achieving students, with a number of A* and A grades between them, were Thomas Williams, Kathryn Cook, Sophie Trotter, Amy Cocking, Bradley Hanson, Samuel Bird, Billie Madeley, Tek Hong Chung, George Clarkson, Victoria Smedley, Ryan Lee, Jessica Norfolk, Arren Doughty and another student also called Thomas Williams.

This year’s results also saw 82 per cent of De Aston students achieve a C grade or above in English and 75 per cent a C grade or above in Maths. For both English and Maths, this represented a 7 per cent increase on last year.

“The whole staff has worked really hard to make these results possible; our outstanding teachers have been greatly supported by our excellent intervention officers and teaching assistants.

“In addition, our parents have worked with us in partnership to create this success.”
