Olympic opportunities come to Select Lincolnshire's
Friday 11am Select Lincolnshire has joined forces with food industry experts to bring business opportunities, including supplying food for the 2012 Olympics, to the project's annual conference on Wednesday 10 February 2010, at The Epic Centre, Lincolnshire Showground, 9.45am – 3.50pm.
In the wake of the recession it's essential Lincolnshire businesses explore every opportunity to promote their quality products and services, and the Select Lincolnshire conference, with its practical workshops will help businesses plant the seeds of success for future years.
After an introduction from Select Lincolnshire's Project Manager Jill McCarthy, which includes a review of 2009, delegates will split into sub-groups to attend a series of workshops led by industry experts.
The workshops will include discussions on:
Winning contracts for the 2012 Olympics – opportunities to supply food to the Olympiad and the training camps.
Collaborative distribution – opportunities to distribute produce across the UK at reduced costs.
Supply opportunities in London's wholesale market – examples from New Convent Garden Market.
Pack it in! Minimise packaging and become greener – reviewing packaging costs and green credentials.
Professional development & food technology – looking at food manufacturing in Lincolnshire and introducing sensory food testing.
Jill McCarthy, Project Manager for Select Lincolnshire said "This event is vital for businesses that are looking to access potential new markets, and provides fantastic networking opportunities. At the conference we'll be celebrating the success of the industry, presenting future opportunities that will boost business and Lincolnshire's economy."
New businesses and non-Select Lincolnshire members are also invited to the conference to discover how they can benefit from using the brand by maximising their marketing potential.
The event will open at 9.45am with keynote speakers commencing at 10.15am and workshops beginning at 10.55am. A locally sourced lunch will be served at 1pm with the event finishing at 3.50pm.
The Select Lincolnshire brand was launched in 2005 to highlight and generate consumer recognition of Lincolnshire's quality produce distributed across the UK. The brand can be used by Lincolnshire horticultural, agricultural, food producing and food chain related businesses.
It offers users a distinct identity that can be used across all marketing activities and can help differentiate a quality Lincolnshire product from other products.
