A RASEN supermarket relaunch has benefitted local groups as well as customers.

The town’s Tesco store has undergone a refurbishment and as part of the programme a £500 community fund was launched.

The money was split between five groups serving the area - Honeybee Barn, Market Rasen Development Trust, Newtoft Pups, Middle Rasen Nursery and Market Rasen Town Football and Association Cricket - who each received £100.

Honeybee Barn is a teaching facility for people with learning and other disabilities, based just outside Market Rasen and the money will be used to buy more equipment for their courses in horticultural, small animal care and horse care.

A new community contact website will be set up by Market Rasen Development Trust with their share of the cash, while at Middle Rasen Nursery, the money will be used to enhance learning opportunities for the children.

The community fund was set up by Northern Ireland based company Patton who undertook the refurbishment.

Also on the launch day, customers were entered into a free draw for a television and the lucky winner was Allison Higgins, who only moved to the town six months ago.
