Maj Mumby, Commanding Officer E Company, Humberside and South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force, said: “We are pleased to have the honour of providing the first Mayor’s Cadet for North Lincolnshire.

“Although this year’s Mayor’s Cadet comes from the Army Cadets, we represent not just the Army’s Cadet Force but the other uniformed services also.

“Having a Mayor’s Cadet helps to raise the profile of the uniformed youth services and shows that youngsters in North Lincolnshire have options for extracurricular activities and don’t necessarily have to hang around on street corners getting up to no good.

“The Army Cadet Force in North and North East Lincolnshire is nearly 300 strong and offer places to 12 to 18 year old girls and boys.

“The Army Cadet Force motto is ‘to inspire to achieve’ and this honour certainly lives up to that.”
