Sports lovers in Keelby are benefitting from extra security thanks to a donation from a local councillor.
West Lindsey District councillor Owen Bierley used £1,100 of his ‘councillor initiative fund’ to pay for CCTV to be installed at Keelby Sports Ground, with Lincolnshire Police providing the remaining £1,000.
Coun Bierley decided to help fund the CCTV after a meeting with Lincolnshire Police.
He said: “The skate park in particular has open access and people can come and go as they wish.
“Following a meeting with the police at the end of August, it was decided that CCTV would be a good idea. It is there to give reassurance to the people using the sports ground, and ensure they feel safe and secure while using the fantastic facilities.”
The sports ground is used for bowls, cricket, football and tennis. And there are plans to introduce a BMX track if funding can be secured later this year.
