Mum, 45, transforms life after shedding pounds

A mum of two so overweight she was unable to play with her children has managed to shed the pounds and transform her life.

Weighing over 17 stone, Lynda Waters, from Market Rasen, felt embarrassed about her size and the fact she could not take part in normal parent and child activities.

“Even kicking a ball was difficult and I struggled to walk to the field just to watch my youngest play rugby,” said Lynda, 45.

And if that was not a good enough reason to lose weight, several years ago Lynda’s mum Beryl suffered a near fatal heart attack which obesity had contributed towards.

“My weight had been creeping up every year. I didn’t want to be in the position that she was in.”

And to add to that, as a community midwife, part of Lynda’s job is to talk to expectant mothers about the potential risks of being overweight.

She explained: “I was talking to them about their weight when I was clearly overweight myself.

“I wanted to set an example to the ladies.”

So after many years of watching her waistband expand, Lynda decided to do something about it.

She joined a Slimming World group in June last year and has since lost an impressive three stone and dropped three dress sizes.

“The difference is really amazing.

“We go swimming, we go for walks and I’m able to play with him (her son) and have fun.

“You can see the pleasure on his face,” said Lynda.

Lynda has now set up her own Slimming World group to encourage other people to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle.

The group meets in Caistor Town Hall every Tuesday at 7.30pm.
