Jayne, who is married to Coun John Matthews, was nominated for her hard work in fundraising over the past two years, having collected more than £10,000 for the mayor’s charities.

Jayne said: “I am very proud and honoured to have been chosen for this award but a huge thanks must go to many of the businesses in Market Rasen and beyond, Market Rasen Primary School, De Aston School, Tesco, Market Rasen Racecourse and everyone who has helped and supported me in the fund raising especially my two sons, my husband, councillors and a big thank you to the people of Market Rasen for supporting the charities.”

The competition was judged by Vicar Rev Steven Johnson, deputy mayor of Market Rasen, Coun Martin Harvey and last year’s recipient of the award, John Hadlow.

The award recognises members of the public for their exceptional community duties.
