Man sleeps in tent and raises £3,000 for charity

A RETIRED man who spent five days living alone in a tent has managed to raise £3,000 for charity – an incredible £2,500 more than his target amount.

Chris Hall took on the challenge to mark his 60th birthday and at the same time raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

He set up camp on the corner of his field in Catskin Lane, Walesby on Monday, April 30 and stayed there until 5pm on Friday, May 4.

“It’s amazing – I would like to thank everyone who supported me,” said Chris, who believes his chosen charity desperately needs extra funding for research.

Chris decided to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society after hearing about Wickenby woman Michelle Boryszczuk who was diagnosed with the disease aged 39. Michelle, now 43, needs round-the-clock care and has lost the ability to speak.
