Market Rasen Children’s Centre organises swimming sessions at the neighbouring Market Rasen Primary School. Recently

27 swimming awards were presented to participants by Anna Bielak, early years practitioner. They included the new ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) Discovery Duckling Awards, which are the start of the learn-to-swim experience for children. “The awards are perfect for babies and toddlers, and pre-school children who are new to swimming lessons,” said Angela Pettit, children’s services support assistant, who leads the program.

“They are an ideal way of gaining water confidence while staying close to adult support.”

The Discovery Ducklings are followed by existing Duckling Awards.

Some children also achieved “I can” awards, which recognise achievement of specific single successes.
