A teenager remains in intensive care following a serious collision between two cars on the A46 near Market Rasen.

The incident occurred at 6:03pm on Wednesday, December 18. A grey Audi A6 estate car was in collision with a silver Ford Fiesta.

The driver of the Fiesta, an 18-year-old woman from Tealby, was trapped in the car for over an hour before the Fire and Rescue Service managed to release her.

She was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary by air ambulance with serious leg and back injuries. She remains there in the Intensive Care Unit. Her condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

The front seat passenger from the Fiesta was taken to Lincoln County Hospital (LCH) where she was detained overnight with a hand injury and a relatively minor head injury.

The driver of the Audi, who was alone in the car, was also taken to LCH with minor injuries and detained overnight for observation.

The road was not re-opened until around midnight.

Fire crews from Market Rasen, Caistor and Lincoln along with LIVES First Responders were also involved in the rescue operation.

PC 953 Dave McCracken is investigating the cause of the crash. He is keen to speak to any witnesses who saw it happen or who saw the cars on the road prior to it.

He is particularly keen to trace a coach that may have been overtaken by one of the vehicles just prior to the collision.

Dave can be contacted via the 101 non-emergency number quoting incident number 359 of December 18.

Alternatively anyone with information can call the Lincs Police Collision Witness Hotline on 01522 558855.
