At the latest Brigg Town Council meeting the Policy Committee recommendation that the Brigg Town Council Civic Award for 2013 should be presented to Lidl UK GmbH was approved.

The award is given in recognition of a feature or location in Brigg which is best considered to have improved the appearance of the town during the previous year.

And it is the work done landscaping alongside the development of the company’s new Brigg store which is being noted on this occasion.

This extensive work has entirely transformed a previously derelict and unsightly location at the entrance to the town.

In addition, the council is taking the opportunity to recognise the company’s contribution toward the creation of the Brigg Memorial Garden, as well as improvements to the adjacent walkway leading to the river and beneath the bridge.

The town council was equally pleased to note since these works were completed the problems related to anti-social behaviour at this location have significantly diminished.

The presentation will take place at the Town Mayor’s Civic Charity Banquet on Thursday March 20 in the Angel Suite.
